'Ashke' to hit the silver screen on this Friday

If you call it an experiment, it would be one of the most parlous experiments in this industry. If you call it as negligence on someone, perhaps the whole team’s part, in would be something for which your boss wouldn’t even consider hearing your side of the conversation before firing you. Call it what you want for only a handful of people know the exact reason behind all that has happened or that has not happened.

As a website which covers the ins and outs of Punjabi movies, seldom would you come across a situation where you are writing a movie preview a day before its release without having got a chance to watch its trailer (it might release in the evening). Having said that, there is something really special which the movie possesses, something which has scaled its craze to new heights sans the trailer. Call it the Amrinder Gill factor or the Rhythm Boyz factor, you wouldn’t see any other Punjabi movie (with an unreleased trailer) being awaited in a way that Amberdeep Singh’s ‘Ashke’ is being awaited by the audiences.

The movie stars a fresh on-screen couple in Amrinder Gill and Sanjeeda Ali Shaikh in lead roles. The latter, an eminent TV actress, will be seen making her debut in the Punjabi film industry in this movie. Apart from them, the movie stars Jaswinder Bhalla, Hobby Dhaliwal, Gurshabad, Supneet Singh, Sarabjit Cheema, Harjot Singh, Gurpal Sandhu, Sarvesh Bhagat and others.

The closest piece of knowledge that we have about the movie is that it is based on the story of a Bhangra team. Dheeraj Ratan, an acclaimed script writer, has written the story of the movie. The movie has been produced under the banner of Rhythm Boyz Entertainment, a tour de force enterprise, and Hayre Omjee Studios.

Ashke is expected to receive competition at the box-office from Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3’, Jayesh Pradhan’s ‘Nawabzaade’ and Christopher McQuerrie’s ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’. That being said, there are still high hopes of Ashke receiving a sumptuous opening at the box-office, just like all other recent Amrinder Gill movies.

Saying this in the nicest possible manner, for a movie to be released on the day after tomorrow, Ashke has traveled a different path altogether. Whether the movie will be as different (and special) as its path, will only be known after watching it in cinema halls on this Friday, i.e., July 27. Notwithstanding its strange build-up, fans of Amrinder Gill are expected to shower love upon this movie on this weekend. If there is one point in time, where the singer-turned-actor would be hoping for genuine support from the audiences, it would undoubtedly be Ashke.
