There is no going into a safe house about the fact that actor Dev Kharoud has become a bankable name in the Punjabi film industry. Titled Zakhmi‘, Kharoud’s first movie of the year 2020 is all set to hit the silver screens on February 7. Having worked as co-actors in ‘Dulla Bhatti’ (2016) and ‘Bailaras’ (2017), Zakhmi will be the third time when renowned actor Binnu Dhillon and Kharoud will be working together albeit in a whole different capacity.

It is worth mentioning that the movie has been produced under the banner of Binnu Dhillon Productions and Omjee Star Studios.

In what will be Kharoud’s 15th movie overall, it will be his sixth in the last 15 months. The same speaks highly about Kharoud becoming an entailing name in Punjabi movies of late.

Dev Kharoud to confront consistency

Much like any other successful actor, Kharoud’s career is at a stage where the opening number of his movies is no more a concern for the producers. Having said that, the new challenge lies in his movies breaking the lifetime collections of his previous movies in a bid to break barriers.

Been part of three movies in 2019, Kharoud saw each one of them doing reasonably well. However, none of them went on to enter the category of an outright blockbuster.

With fans guaranteeing eyeballs on Friday for a movie starring Kharoud, he himself is most likely to be striving towards upping the game as far as box-office is concerned. While Kharoud has been consistent in the last half-a-decade or so, confronting a greater level of consistency is expected to be his utmost priority.

Often seen as an archetype action hero, Kharoud appears ready to play the role of a father for the first time. A large section of the Punjabi audience, which tends to not prefer out and out action movies, is expected to visit the cinema halls this time to witness the family man in Kharoud.

Whether the same booms Kharoud’s consistency in terms of the collection of the movie will be known in the days to come.
