Kangana Ranaut's films: The Bollywood actress continues to receive severe criticism post her derogatory comments around farmers' protest.

Producer and cinema-owner Lakhvir Chahal, who has produced some of the most liked Punjabi movies in the last half-a-decade under the banner of Dream Reality Movies, has slammed Bollywood actor and sitting Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur constituency Sunny Deol for his apparent lack of interest in the ongoing farmers' protest in North India.

Speaking during an interview with Dainik Savera in Delhi, Chahal questioned Deol's absence from Punjab amidst testing times for its residents and admitted being hurt by the ignorance of his childhood hero towards the people of his constituency.

"Had they [Deol family] cared about our farmers, they would've stood with us here today. They are nowhere to be seen. We've been fans of the Deol family since childhood. My father's generation was emotionally attached to Dharamendra and we were habitual of watching first shows of Sunny Deol's movies.

"We used to get beaten in [Aarti Cinema] Ludhiana due to the heavy rush in his movies. But we used to love him so much. Even his [Sunny Deol] flop movies used to do well in Punjab. People accepted him with open arms when he stepped into politics. It is painful and really hurts to see him not visit Punjab in this difficult hour," Chahal was quoted as saying by Dainik Savera.

Lakhvir Chahal speaks against screening Kangana Ranaut's films in Mansa cinema

While Chahal lauded Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh's manner in which he lashed out at Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's derogatory comments around farmers' protest on social media platform Twitter, he openly opposed Ranaut using belittling words for an old lady.

Chahal, who also owns a cinema hall in Mansa named Dream Reality Cinemas, announced a ban on Ranaut's films in his cinema hall until she offers an unconditional apology.

"No Punjabi or for that matter, no farmer of India, will forgive her [Kangana Ranaut] for using derogatory language against our mata ji [Mahinder Kaur]. All this is being done under an agenda where even an old lady who makes ends meet by farming is spoken ill about," Chahal said.

"As an actress and a lady, she shouldn't have used such belittling words for another lady. I strongly oppose Kangana Ranaut and want to announce through your medium that I won't screen her films in my cinema [Dreamreality Cinema, Grand Mall, Mansa] until she offers an unconditional apology to mata ji.

"I will also make efforts to conduct meetings regarding boycotting her to the extent that neither her films get screened in Punjab nor she be allowed to shoot in Punjab. I would also like to urge all Punjabi artists to not work with her till the time she doesn't apologizes to mata ji," he added.
