Maa Trailer Review: Divya Dutta returns to Punjabi cinema with a supreme character

Maa Trailer Review: Punjabi Mania present before you the full trailer review of upcoming Punjabi movie titled ‘Maa’.

It was via a tweet almost four years ago that Punjabi superstar Gippy Grewal had announced eight movies in a single announcement including 'Maa'. In what was just a title announcement, Grewal had announced another collaboration with writer-actor Rana Ranbir with respect to Maa via an Instagram post in September 2019.

Originally scheduled to release on Mother's Day 2020, the movie suffered a couple of year-long delays due to COVID-19 pandemic to now finally release on Mother's Day weekend 2022, i.e., May 6.

Grewal, who has produced the movie alongside wife Ravneet Kaur Grewal, is also playing a pivotal role in the movie. The star-studded cast of Maa also includes artists namely Divya Dutta, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Babbal Rai, Rana Ranbir, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Raghveer Boli, Vadda Grewal, Aarushi Sharma, Ashish Duggal, Nirmal Rishi, Gurpreet Bhangu, Tarsem Paul, Parkash Gadhu and Rupinder Rupi.

Maa Trailer Review

Playing a titular (in & as) role, senior actor Divya Dutta is returning to the Punjabi industry after as many as 12 years in Maa.

Dutta, who is playing a lead role in real sense, makes her dominant presence felt in a 205-second trailer. Omnipresent in the trailer, it is quite refreshing to see Dutta playing a role of supreme importance in a Punjabi movie.

Expected to be an all-round attempt regarding the role and importance of a single mother fighting it out against all odds, a lot of explanation isn't really needed around the offerings of Maa.

Having last directed 'Daaka' (2019), Maa will be director Baljit Singh Deo's eighth Punjabi movie as a director. Rana Ranbir, who had last written Grewal's 'Ardaan Karaan' (2019), will have a release as a writer after almost three years.
