The audiences' expectation had instantly increased manifold times post the announcement of this movie for two reasons - a) Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta were returning on the silver screen after more than four years, b) (the more important one) The movie was titled 'Qismat'. Virk's single track (of the same title) featuring Mehta had released last year and was successful to the extent that it catered to a pan-India audience. The soulful ballad that it was and the impact that it created, Qismat was meant to be titled as a movie.
Enough said about the past!
Before the release of the trailer, the first song of the movie in 'Kaun Hoyega' was made public and had generated the right amount and kind of publicity for the build-up to the trailer. That being said, the release of the trailer might just have played a spoilsport. In which seems to be an ordinary trailer, what has really caught the attention is a potential emotional twist in the movie which might change its fortune.
The numerous scenes in and around a hospital also suggest that something heart-rending is in place for the audiences. There have been enough hints of the movie incorporating purposeful songs based on the sad/romantic genre. Written by Jaani and musically directed by B Praak, one can expect them to play a strong support to the above mentioned potential twist in the movie.
By not giving the full account of intricacies involved, the makers have taken a brave decision as far as the trailer is concerned. It is too early to comment anything substantial about the movie but the trailer doesn't help us in praising in detail about it. In a couple of scenes, Virk seems to have tried hard in adding the expected comic element in the movie. However, the attempt doesn't promise much.
Having said that, we are still hopeful that Jagdeep Sidhu's story will not let us down and that the hidden element in the trailer would work wonders on September 21. Talking of Sidhu, Qismat will mark his debut as a director in the film industry. Having successfully written the 'Nikka Zaildar' series and 'Harjeeta', this still remains a test which he would be hoping to pass.
Apart from Ammy and Sargun, the movie stars Guggu Gill, Tania, Hardeep Gill and Harby Sangha in vital roles. The trailer of the movie was released last evening on the official YouTube channel of Speed Records. At the time of writing this article, it has received in excess of 2.5 million views and is trending at #2 on the same platform.
