Popular rapper Badshah has come under legal scrutiny following the release of a new music video that has sparked widespread criticism over its lyrics and visuals. Two FIRs have been filed against the singer after the video drew objections for allegedly portraying schoolgirls dancing in a controversial manner.

The controversy erupted soon after the song’s release on March 1, when viewers noticed girls dressed in school uniforms dancing on the roof of what appeared to be a government bus belonging to Haryana Roadways. The lyrics of the track also faced backlash for containing language many social media users described as inappropriate.

Initially, a case was registered by the cybercrime police station in Panchkula against the song and unidentified individuals associated with it. Later, another FIR was filed by police in Jind following a complaint from the state transport department, which objected to the alleged unauthorised use of a Haryana Roadways bus in the video.

Rahul Jain, general manager of Haryana Roadways, said the department had not granted permission for any vehicle to be used in the production. Officials noted that using government property and the department’s name without approval could attract legal action.

The matter has also caught the attention of the Haryana State Commission for Women, which took suo motu cognisance after receiving complaints from a Panipat-based non-governmental organisation. The commission said the video and lyrics appeared to contain objectionable language and visuals that could be seen as disrespectful to women and minors.

Commission chairperson Renu Bhatia has summoned both the complainants and Badshah to appear with relevant material during a hearing scheduled in Panipat on March 13.

The issue has also triggered protests from community groups. Members of the Nehra Khap in Meham, Rohtak district, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini demanding strict legal action against the rapper and those involved in the production.

Khap representatives alleged that the video showed schoolgirls performing on top of a public transport bus and objected to a particular line in the song that they described as offensive. They argued that such content damages Haryana’s cultural image and sends an inappropriate message to younger audiences.

State Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda termed the episode unfortunate, stating that authorities have begun efforts to identify the bus and the depot from which it may have been hired.

Sources said the music video was taken down shortly after the backlash intensified online. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter while the commission’s hearing is expected to further examine the allegations surrounding the controversial track.
