Guri, someone who has made a name out of himself in his limited career thus far, has come out with his maiden music album, '26'. In times when singers prefer to do 4-5 single tracks a year that doing one music album, releasing a music album has to be a mettlesome settlement. Whether this decision will turn out to be a fruitful one, only time will tell.
The album was announced by Guri around the first week of 2018 across his official social media handles. In what is a Geet MP3 and K.V. Dhillon presentation, 26 comprises of eight songs which will be released on the 26th of every month from January to August. Call it the theme or some sort of marketing strategy, this sounds like an interesting ploy which might come in handy for Guri and his team in the days to come.
As mentioned above, the first song of the album, 'Publicity', was released on the 26th of January on the official YouTube channel of Geet MP3. At the time of writing this article, it has received in vicinity of 2.5 million views and is trending at #5 on the same platform.
The song is penned down by Jung Sandhu and musically directed by DJ Flow. It is another epitome of how DJ Flow is climbing up the ranks in the Punjabi music industry. Guri, Sandhu and DJ Flow have done a remarkable job in making the audio of the song sufficiently good, but, it is the video that has let it down. Directed by Satti Dhillon, the video appears bland on most occasions and thus makes it difficult to bind the interest of the audiences. Choreographed by Sumit, the dance sequence is also uninspiring and does not go too well with the song.
With the first song of the album being a run-of-the-mill track, the pressure is likely to be more on the makers for releasing eight songs in eight months is easier said than done. Wishing loads of luck to the whole team for the upcoming songs.
