Review: Mankirt Aulakh's flawless 'Khayal'

0% Liked

It might sound beyond the bounds of possibility, but at times, one feels that there are two versions of second to none Punjabi singer, Mankirt Aulakh. One facet of his is him being domineering in songs like 'Gangland', 'Jail', 'Badnaam' and 'Daang'. The second facet is him being this archetype romantic man, who sings vehemently for his other half ('Gallan Mithiyan', 'Kadar' and 'Choorhey Wali Baah').

It is imperative for an artist to be versatile in the modern day and age. The above paragraph is the paragon of how Aulakh, in his limited career so far, has donned this coat with brilliance. His second version came out with a latest single track, 'Khayal', yesterday. Condemning his act of doing the too much of too much last year was part of our line of work. Citing the same line of work in mind, praising him for a track like Khayal becomes a no-brainer for us.

The song was released on the official YouTube channel of Speed Records. At the time of writing this article, it has just crossed five million views and is trending at #3 on the same platform.

The music video also marks the first appearance of Sabrina Bajwa in the Punjabi industry. Her role in the video is filled with aplomb. Following the footsteps of her elder sisters, Neeru and Rubina, Sabrina is third sister from the family to enter into the Punjabi industry. Motivating. Isn't it?

Desi Routz has worked on the music in the song which is penned down by Meet Hundal. Sukh Sanghera, some one who is directing Punjabi music videos with all possible expedition, is the brain behind Khayal as well. The creative elements in the song like a choorha in the truck and an ostentatious gear is appealing to watch. Keeping track of his recent works, he seems to be on an unrivalled spree altogether. A song is bound to do well when it has these names as the ingredients in it.
